On the 5th of October, I welcomed five participants into a cozy café in Ankara for a watercolour workshop that lasted an entire afternoon. They came from completely different walks of life, but within minutes, that didn't matter anymore. What brought them together was a shared curiosity for this quiet, unpredictable medium.

I built the session around the fundamentals I return to again and again in my own practice: layering, wet on wet blending, and the patience it takes to build depth using just a handful of colours. What I love most about teaching is watching that moment when something clicks, when a participant stops trying to control the water and starts working with it instead. Brush stroke by brush stroke, each person found their own rhythm, and honestly, that's the part that stays with me long after the paint has dried.

The setting mattered too. There's something about a quiet, sunlit café that makes people slow down, put their phones away, and actually pay attention to what's in front of them. That kind of stillness is rare, and it's exactly the atmosphere I try to create in every workshop I run.

This is the work I care about most: helping people rediscover watercolour painting through hands on, personalised guidance, one small group at a time. If you'd like to join one of my upcoming workshops in Istanbul or Ankara, or would rather arrange a private session for your own group, I'd love to hear from you. Just reach out through my contact page.
